purdue university provides resources and education on service trip to the dominican republic

Each year, our team at ONE® donates hundreds of thousands of condoms through our multiple donation and outreach programs. In March, we donated a case of condoms to Purdue University's "Water Supply in Developing Countries" class, which traveled to the Dominican Republic in May for a service trip at a local school.

Annabelle Papai, a nursing student at Purdue reached out to our team following the trip to share with us the impact our donation and her team's service had on the community they served. According to Annabelle:

"As a testament to the value of your donation, people were in and out of the clinic all week to grab a few free condoms. The local doctor at one of the clinics explained that almost all of the HIV infections in the country are from sexual encounters since they do not have a huge IV drug problem. Especially in the rural areas we work in, resources like condoms are not readily available or affordable." 

In addition to distributing condoms, students from Purdue's class implemented a clean water system at a local school, redesigned and decorated the school's student hand-washing station, and provided hundreds of dollars worth of school supplies and educational materials on safe water maintenance and consumption to students and their families.
